40 Acres of majestic redwoods bordering Wilder Ranch State Park gives you access to thousands of acres of excellent hiking and mountain biking right from your campsite. Miles of single-track and fire roads in this world-class mountain bike destination lead you through the redwoods to sunny meadows with sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean and the Monterey Bay. Conveniently located above the westside of Santa Cruz, our site will give you easy access to scenic Westcliff Drive, Natural Bridges State Beach, downtown Santa Cruz, quaint Felton, Henry Cowell Redwoods state park as well as remote North Coast beaches. Please note tent camping is a rain-or-shine activity. :)

Site 1 - Redwood Forest Tenting
Beautiful Redwood Retreat!
We had the best time camping at Scott's redwood paradise. Upon arrival, Scott showed us to our site and told us everything we needed to know about his property and our stay. The land is stunning - we were surrounded by beautiful coastal redwood trees and lush greenery. Our site was very spacious and was covered almost completely by the canopy, so we were shaded from the sun during the afternoon. One of the other sites was a good distance away from ours, while the other closer site was separated from ours by trees and bushes, so we had plenty of privacy. The accommodations were wonderful - a composting toilet shared between all three sites, trash and recycling bins with extra trash bags at each site, a picnic table at each site, and a fire pit with chairs at each site. We also had access to fresh spring water via the nearby spigot, which was great for doing dishes and for drinking. The campsite is just a short drive from the beach, about 10 minutes. 4WD is definitely needed to reach the campsites by vehicle, as the road down is very steep and gravelly. It is a pretty short walk from the top of the hill, however, if you do have to park further up and walk your gear down. Will absolutely be returning to Scott’s property for future camping trips!

Site 6 - Redwood Forest Tenting
Beautiful, secluded site among the redwoods in a perfect location. It was the ideal base from which to explore Santa Cruz for the downtown area, beach/boardwalk time, and hiking trails! I wish we would have had a 4WD vehicle for easier loading/unloading, but we made it work :) Make sure your directions take you to the correct location!

You definitely need a car with 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive but it’s an absolutely amazing campsite!! It is a pretty private site with lots of room and gorgeous scenery the drive in definitely adds to the “off grid” feel even though your only about 15 mins from town!! Also there are a lot of near by activities. Overall an amazing site and would definitely recommend:)

As advertised…secluded camping oasis in Santa Cruz. Enjoy the peaceful experience. Campsite had the necessary accommodations and the host was responsive. I’d stay there again…

Hope to go sometime!
We were so bummed to not use our reservation. We had a few first time campers and the weather was forcasted to be pretty wet and rainy so we opted not to go. Really hope to go another time!!

I enjoyed tent camping at Scott's site. The spot was spacious. There was a firepit, well-maintained woodchip toilet, and firepit. The spot was well-shaded by redwood trees and there were near by residential homes but the area was quiet overall. This spot is off Empire Road which is close to great hiking and biking trails.
